Gordon Ramsay at The London, located within The London NYC, has been voted the #1 choice in the "Top Newcomer" category of the Zagat Survey 2008 New York City Restaurants. The results are determined by consumer surveys, with a record 34,678 New York City diners who brought roughly six million meals to the survey. In addition, the restaurant's more casual dining offering, maze, was named the guide's #3 Top Newcomer. Zagat is recognized as one of the most comprehensive and reliable guides published, with more than 300,000 surveyors rating its featured restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues.
In its first year of eligibility, Gordon Ramsay at The London located in The London NYC, has been honored with two stars by the Michelin Guide New York City 2008. The restaurant, Ramsay's first in the U.S., is among only six restaurants in New York City to receive the two star rating, the second highest rating available to a restaurant. The Michelin Guide began rating restaurants and hotels in Europe more than a century ago and today publishes guides in 17 countries and two continents. For restaurants, Michelin stars are based on five criteria: quality of products, mastery of flavor and cooking, "personality" of cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits. Gordon Ramsay is one of the most starred chefs in the world.
